Günlük Bilginiz - votka nasıl içilir

Ruslardan öğütler : Ayık kalmak için nasıl votka içmelisiniz
---------------------------------------------------------
How to drink vodka and stay sober
Russians are renowned for drinking a lot of vodka staying sober. That’s not something to do with biological inheritance but with the way we drink. Russians believe that foreigners don’t know how to drink. They don’t eat while drinking. They mix cocktails. They sip vodka instead of taking shots. They drink vodka with highly carbonated sodas. In short, they do everything to get drunk from the minimum amount of alcohol. May be it has something to do with innate Western avidity or expensiveness of alcohol.
Russians, on the other hand, do everything to stay sober while drinking as much alcohol as possible. How do we do it? We try to neutralize alcohol as long as possible. I try to outline the basic principles of vodka drinking for uninitiated.
One hour before the party.
1. Eat a couple of boiled potatoes.
2. Drinks one or two raw eggs.
3. Drink one or two table-spoons of olive oil. Sunflower oil will also do.
Thus it’s guaranteed that at the Russian party you will stay sober for at least one bottle of vodka. I’m not kidding. Raw eggs are the most important part of Russian pre-party preparations.
At the party.
1. If you start drinking vodka – drink only vodka. No beer or wine. No water or juice. Carbonated drinks are taboo.
2. Drink vodka only in shots. Never sip.
3. Eat immediately after taking a shot. Russian zakuskis are often translated as appetizers. That’s not quite correct. Zakuskis are something you ‘zakusyvayesh’ with after taking a shot of vodka. They are very important to neutralize alcohol. That’s why they all contain two most important alcohol neutralizers – acid and salt. I recommend taking the following sequence:
- immediately after taking a shot – two slices of lemon;
- then some salted cucumbers, pickles, marinated tomatoes or caviar.
- then something with a lot of oil: herring (traditionally with cold boiled potatoes and onion), sardines, or shproty (small smoked sprats in olive oil);
- then traditional Russian salads, like Oliviye or Herring with boiled beet and mayonnaise. Almost all Russian salads come under heavy mayonnaise dressing. Remember – acid, salt, eggs and oil. Ukrainians and Southern Russians prefer smoked lard with garlic but it’s a zakuska for professionals.
4. Only three first vodka shots at a Russian party are ‘obligatory’ so to say. That means you have to take them if you want to show you’re a friendly person but not an unsociable person. After that you can ‘miss’ one or two shots. Just say, “Ya propuskayu” (Literally, I make it slip) and cover your glass with your palm. That doesn’t mean you can abstain from drinking till the end of the party. It means (excusing yourself that you’re a foreigner) can take one shot out of two your Russian guests take.
I think, some Russian party traditions need to be explained here. In Russia we party around a big table with bottles and zakuskis. We drink only when someone makes a toast and we drink all together. The person who makes a toast usually pours vodka to all glasses. Taking a bottle yourself and drinking vodka without others is a faux pas. Actually you (and all others) are ordered to drink after a toast. Everyone at the party is supposed to make a toast – being a foreigner is not an excuse. So be prepared – buy yourself a book on party toasts (there are a lot of them on sale in Russia) and learn some by heart.
5. Zakuskis part of the party take about an hour – or something like 200 grams (4 shots) of vodka. Then comes “goryacheye” (hot dishes). Even though zakuskis could be very filling – you should eat goryacheye if you want not be become drunk.
6. Actively participate in intellectual talks around the table. Mental activity is probably the best method to keep you excited but sober. Try, for example, to drink two pints of beer while reading a philosophical book and see the result.
7. At the end of the party come tea and cakes. Don’t miss it too. This way you show your hosts that you’re survived the party without dire consequences.
Now in the course of 4 or 5 hours you drunk a bottle of vodka (500 grams) and you’re only slightly tight.
After the party.
1. Keep a small bottle of beer in refrigerator. Wake up at about 5 in the morning, drink your beer and go back to bed. It prevents hang-over in the morning.
2. If the early morning beer didn’t help (it usually does), drink a glass of brine from the jar you kept you pickles in.
Many Russians recommend taking a shot of vodka in the morning to fights hang-over. Don’t do it. It helps only alcoholics. If you’re not, it will make things worse.

Spider Catcher £9.95

Oh my god! If that’s a scream that usually comes from your house you’re either a Don Juan in the bedroom or more likely there’s a spider in the house. When a creepy crawly spider comes to call they either become wall or carpet smears at the hands of a rolled up magazine or cause no end of trauma as you try to catch one in a bush tucker style using a glass and a piece of paper.

Kiss goodbye to the hand fisted spider catching methods of yesteryear and embrace the Spider Catcher, the latest in arachnid immobilisation technology.
This ingenious cure for arachnophobia allows you to catch a spider while still remaining over half a metre away (that’s 65cm for all you measurement stats fans). All you have to do is pull the trigger on the handle of the Spider Catcher, pop the bristled end onto the spider and release. The spider is instantly incapacitated thanks to the nylon bristles that act like glue to the spider’s hairy little legs. You can then safely and calmly take the spider outside and set it free, or just hit it with a hammer if you really hate spiders.

The Spider Catcher is so delicate that it can also be used to catch butterflies and moths without hurting them!
A rather friendly solution to one of life’s mini-dramas

After drunken night, a man stumbled into his old home and was killed as a burglar
By Simon de Bruxelles

A MAN who wandered back to the house where he had grown up after a birthday pub crawl was killed by the new owner who mistook him for a burglar, an inquest was told yesterday.
Michael Robinson, a married father of a five-month-old girl, had lived in the house for twenty-seven years before moving to a nearby flat nine years ago. He is believed to have returned in a befuddled state after celebrating his 36th birthday in local pubs.
The owner of the property, David Gentles, 30, saw Mr Robinson in his garden and went out to confront him. He told the hearing that he chased him into an alley where the intruder turned and hit out at him.
Mr Gentles, who had been a schoolboy boxing champion, hit back and knocked him down with one punch. Mr Robinson fell backwards and smashed his head on the path. He died in hospital eight days later from brain damage and a fractured skull.

The AladdinPower hand generator promises to make dead cell phone batteries a thing of the past by putting the power of charging in your hands, literally. There isn't a list of compliant manufacturers, though the website says it "universally connects to most cellphones regardless of brand, make, model, or manufacturer." AladdinPower's big brother, the "E Stepcharger" is coming soon, but until then, it looks like the only downside might be a hand cramp. US $59.95.

Blowfly

Many sleepers experience that after they turn off the alarm clock they go on sleeping. One thing that sometimes wakes you up at night and prevents you from sleeping is the mosquito or blowfly when flying around your room. You can't and don't want to fall asleep again until you've caught it. These produces adrenalin and requires movements. The alarm clock blowfly works like a "blowfly" that at the desire time it escapes from a cage in your room. It starts moving and producing sound around you - to turn it off you should catch it and put it back in the cage.

Virgin's Branson reveals frequent-flyer space plan

visit their site : http://www.virgingalactic.com/

Virgin Airlines is to offer frequent-flyer "Space Miles" that passengers can put towards flights in space with the company's soon-to-be-launched Virgin Galactic, boss Richard Branson revealed.

The British tycoon, in Hong Kong to promote new Virgin flights to the city, said customers who collected two million points would be entitled to be among the first commercial astronauts when his space plan takes off in two years.

"There are already 30 people in the world who have collected enough air miles to fly into space," Branson said Tuesday.

"We do think there will be a lot of Virgin Atlantic people who will want to travel into space," he added.

Branson in July formed a company to build five aircraft that can each fly seven people beyond the atmosphere.

In addition, the flash drive can also provide a secure browser and virus scanner, and lets you take your favorite DVD burning and Office software with you wherever you may go.

All that's needed is a bootable USB Flash drive with at least 256 MB of storage capacity and a Windows Setup CD. Using the program Bart PE Builder (Freeware), you can install Windows XP on the flash drive, along with other software as needed (and as available space permits).

Nissan develops self-repairing paint

December 3, 2005 Nissan has developed the world’s first clear paint that repairs scratches on painted car surfaces, including scratches from car-washing machines, off-road driving and fingernails. “Scratch Guard Coat” contains a newly developed high elastic resin that helps prevent scratches from affecting the inner layers of a car’s painted surface. With “Scratch Guard Coat” a car’s scratched surface will return to its original state anywhere from one day to a week, depending on temperature and the depth of the scratch.

The water-repellent paint also has a higher resistance to scratches compared with conventional clear paints. A vehicle painted with “Scratch Guard Coat” will have only one-fifth the abrasions caused by a car-washing machine compared with a car covered with conventional clear paint. Scratches from car-washing machines account for the majority of scratches to painted car surfaces.

“Scratch Guard Coat” is effective for about three years.

“Scratch Guard Coat” will be applied for the first time on an SUV model that is scheduled for a partial makeover in the near future. The paint will be applied to the car’s chassis, bumpers, door mirrors, among other parts.

Study: Coffee reduces liver risk

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Coffee and tea may reduce the risk of serious liver damage in people who drink alcohol too much, are overweight, or have too much iron in the blood, researchers reported on Sunday.

The study of nearly 10,000 people showed that those who drank more than two cups of coffee or tea per day developed chronic liver disease at half the rate of those who drank less than one cup each day.

Philips and Sony create first ePaper Book

May 2004 Philips, Sony and E Ink have won the race to market for electronic paper and announced the world’s first consumer application of an electronic paper display module in Sony’s new e-Book reader, LIBRIé, which went on sale in Japan as we publish. E Ink’s electronic ink technology offers a truly paper-like reading experience with contrast similar to newsprint.

The display is reflective and easily read in sunlight or dim light and at any angle, just like paper. Its black and white ink-on-paper look is achieved with a resolution of 170 ppi (pixels per inch), far better than most portable devices (computer screens are normally 72 ppi). As the display uses power only when an image is changed, you can read 10,000 pages on a set of over-the-counter batteries. With a compact, lightweight form factor LIBRIé is similar in size to a paperback book.

LIBRIé allows users to download content, such as books or comic strips and read it anywhere, and it can store 500 downloaded books.

While the way people experience entertainment has changed dramatically with the rapid growth of portable entertainment devices like music and movie players, the way people read books, magazines and newspapers has not.

The commercialization of this revolutionary display technology is a result of a strategic collaboration among E Ink Corporation, Toppan Printing, Philips and Sony and has resulted in more than 100 patents in chemistry, electronics and manufacturing processes.

Guide To Being Wasted

ECSTASY

How you think you behave: Like the beautiful, caring, wonderful person you really are.

How you actually behave: Like the creepy kid at school who always sucked up to the teacher. Those revolting sweaty hugs you inflict upon anyone you meet are disgusting. Likelihood of getting laid: 30%. Sex is not important. It's all about the "vibe."

How you feel in the morning: Like you should have gone for the sex.

Embarrassment rating: 6/10 Ecstasy makes you say nice things to people that you don't like. This can be very embarrassing, particularly if people believe what you say. Be careful who you give your phone number to. They just might call.

MARIJUANA

How you think you behave: You're not sure, but you think people could be laughing at you.
How you actually behave: Like someone just hit you over the head with an 800KG fridge freezer combination.

Likelihood of getting laid: 60%. If you spend enough time on the couch, anything can happen. How you feel in the morning: Like another joint. And the rest of that pizza.

Embarrassment rating: 1/10. You are moving so slowly that it's almost impossible to do anything stupid.

ALCOHOL

How you think you behave: Like the life of the party. You are sexy, funny and everybody likes you.

How you actually behave: Like the death of the party. Your behaviour gets progressively worse as you tell more and more crass jokes, insult the bartender, spill your drink and make a pass at your best friend's date.

Likelihood of getting laid: 90%. Your sexual standards drop dramatically with each consecutive drink. If surrounded by others whose standards are also lowered, then your chances are pretty good. How you feel in the morning: Who did I insult? Where is my car? Why did I sleep with someone from the office? I've never felt this bad before. This is absolutely the last time.

Embarrassment rating: 11/10. Not only are you stupid, you are sloppy. Everyone recognizes this, except you.

COCAINE

How you think you behave: You are smart, irresistible and want to "do lunch" with everyone.
How you actually behave: Like an annoying know-it-all who would sell his soul for the next line of blow.

Likelihood of getting laid: 80% It may be a Jedi Mind Trick, but when you sincerely believe you are so irresistible, some clueless and insecure type may actually fall for it How you feel in the morning: Like the apeman.

Embarrassment rating: 0/10 if there's more coke in the drawer. 9/10 if there isn't.

ACID or SHROOMS

How you think you behave: You are not behaving, but the world around you is putting on a pretty good show.

How you actually behave: In reality, it is you putting on the show. The rest of the world is behaving the same as ever.

Likelihood of getting laid: 20% Even if you actually manage to get through the process of selecting a mate, removing your clothes and choosing a sexual position, you will then have to deal with the challenge of your partner changing into a furry animal/the devil/your mother. How you feel in the morning: Either you are climbing the wall swishing that God would put an end to your suffering, or you finally understand Huxley's "The Doors of Perception."

Embarrassment rating: 0/10 You either sat on the couch and laughed at the TV all night even if it was turned off). Or you climbed onto a building, tried to fly and died.

Electric Clothing Stain Remover

I wonder if this gadget works as well as it says because if it does, I can think of countless times when the electric stain remover would have come in handy. Stains always seem to get me as I'm about to walk out the door, so I have to choose between blotting the stain out with water, risking a potentially embarassing wet spot (depending on where the stain is), or trying to find something else to wear which can be equally time consuming considering I can be an indecisive dresser at the most inconvenient times. Utilizing ultrasonic technology of 120 vibrations per second (wait...isn't 120 vibrations actually in the audible range?), the stain remover uses a few drops of water and some rubbing to eliminate the stain completely while preserving the integrity of the fabric and color.

Some Things You Should Know About Guys
By staff writer Ali Wisch

When it comes to guys, you can usually narrow it down to three things: sports, sex, and alcohol. However, there are some things you might not know about the male that go beyond their favorite team, position, and alcoholic beverage. For your enjoyment, I present some things about guys you probably didn't know, didn't want to know, or didn't take the time to notice.
1. As much as you want to talk about past relationships, zip the lip. When you tell a guy you are still good friends with an ex, that translates to, "we still hook up occasionally."
2. Always wait to hear how many people they've slept with before you reveal your numbers. ...
3. Every guy has one "dorky" hobby; some guys play computer games, others build paper airplanes. While I know you're desperate to change them, let them have this one thing, it will keep them sane.
6. Never walk into the bathroom without knocking first, there are some things that guys just don't want us to see (or smell). If they are in there for more then 10 minutes you should wait about 20 before you walk through that door.
7. If you haven't heard the expression, it goes something like this, "Bros before hoes." "Don't criticize a friend of your man unless he brings it up first."
8. Try not to go through their shit. Once you do, don't tell them.
9. Guys like compliments too. If you tell them you like their shirt, chances are they will remember and wear that shirt again.
10. If they smell like pot, they've probably been smoking. If they smell like booze, they've probably been drinking. Put your interrogation flashlight away.
11. They look at Internet porn.
12. If you approach it the right way, you can get any guy to watch Sex and the City with you.
13. They have probably hooked up with one of your friends, and if they haven't, they want to.
14. If a guy has small hands or feet, don't comment on it, unless you're prepared for an awkward situation.
17. A framed picture of yourself as a gift is creepy. Anything from Sharper Image should do the trick.
20. If a guy seems into you but doesn't act on it, there is a chance that one of his friends wants you.
21. Guys will silence your calls when they are a) At a sporting event, b) At the bar, or c) Hooking up with another girl.
23. Sometimes sports take priority over sex
